Loving a neighbor is one thing, loving an enemy is entirely another. God is love, though. If God does not pick and choose whom He loves, how can we do so?

God loves me even when I separate myself from Jesus. Even when I turn my back on God – when I make myself an enemy of Jesus – God loves me even more. How can I not do so, whether neighbor or enemy?

O Holy Spirit, grant me a long memory for love and a short one for anything less. May I always recall God’s unconditional love, especially when I meet my enemy.
