First Sunday of Lent
Mark 1:12-15

Every experience in life has two aspects: that which happens to us and the way in which we respond to what happens to us. The second is far more important than the first!

Jesus was put to the test. That was the event and, in one-way or another, it happens to us every day. But how did He respond to that testing? He met it with courage and faith.

The Letter to the Hebrews says:  “Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered.” If no one else were involved in our life, many of us would find it hard to keep going after some of life’s tragedies.

A loyalty for others, living for others, helps us to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and sustains us in times of testing.
