
Father Mark Stelzer joined the Guest House staff as education director on January 2, 2018. He was ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Springfield, MA, in 1983, and his ministry has included several pastoral and leadership positions. Currently, Father Stelzer serves as college chaplain and associate professor of humanities at College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee, MA, where he offers courses in healthcare ethics and twelve-step spirituality. In addition to these responsibilities, Father Stelzer facilitates workshops and retreats throughout the US on topics related to addiction and recovery and also ministers to persons recovering from addiction as an on-call chaplain at Baystate Medical Center and the Western Massachusetts Regional Women’s Corrections Center. Father Stelzer is a master’s level registered addiction specialist and holds active membership in the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC). An alumnus of Guest House, Father Stelzer served on the Guest House Board of Trustees and the Guest House Men’s Advisory Board, prior to accepting the role of education consultant.
