In Loving Memory of Jim Reading

News

Dear Friends of Guest House,

It is my sad duty to inform you that our dear friend, Jim Reading, entered eternal life on January 29, 2022, two weeks after turning 94 years old.  I know that many of you might remember him as a driver here, as he was for over 25 years.

Jim was a kind and loyal friend of Guest House and Austin Ripley since 1958, in the infancy days of our mission in Lake Orion. He came to our campus as a retired dentist from the area and an active ministry member of his church in Rochester, Michigan.  Before his retirement, he volunteered his time with our clients in a professional capacity.

Jim was the ideal volunteer. He offered our mission the gift of his interpersonal communication expertise, a man of easy chat laced with a safe-space drive up and down the hill to wellness and recovery. His spirit brought calm and peace to our campus and to our residents.

Guest House will keep Jim and the Reading family in prayer in perpetuity, as he represented that kind of gift that our clients benefit from the most; a helping hand and a loving friend.

Yours in Christ,

Jeff Henrich
