Mark 3:13-19

Saint Francis de Sales, Bishop and Doctor of the Church

Today, we recall Jesus calling the twelve disciples to follow him. It’s not easy to follow Jesus and leave everything behind, but these men did exactly that to become His apostles.

Loving Creator, thank You for calling these men to be Your disciples. Thanks for their willingness to follow You and serve Your mission. Help us see what you call us to do in our lives. Help us be open to saying Yes just as the disciples did to follow You. Thank You Lord!

Mark 3:7-12

Saint Vincent, Deacon, Martyr and Saint Marianne Cope, Virgin

We are on a journey this day, with people coming from everywhere. Even a group of people who had an unclean spirit came to him and shouted, “You are the Son of Man.”  He warned them because He did not want to be known.

Lord God, let us remember that we are here to do Your will, whatever that may involve. Help us to be partners with You so we can build the Kingdom of God on this earth. Thank You to all those people who are part of my life. Continue to bless us as we journey with You.

Mark 3:1-6

In our Gospel reading today, we hear Jesus asking the Pharisees a simple question, but they did not want to answer it. They were trying to find a reason to kill Him. He healed the man’s hand, which was against the law on the Sabbath. Jesus ministers out of compassion and humbleness of heart.

Lord, help us to be like You and do good for all the people we come into contact with. Give us the gift of discernment to minister to those we are in contact with. Let us be open to Your Spirit, who can lead and guide us while we are doing ministry.
