HOPE: how we and our world need it!
Hope isn’t a feeling or wish, but a conviction. St Augustine said that hope has two lovely daughters: anger (because the world isn’t the way God wants it to be) and courage (because we know Jesus left us his Spirit to heal it and bring about God’s Kingdom – and needs us to bring that about). Hope’s two daughters are alive and well in all those ordinary people who get up every morning to bring Christ’s love and peace into a world desperately in need of him and his life-giving hope! The Second Vatican Council wisely said, “The future of humanity rests with those who are strong enough to give coming generations reason for living and reason for hoping.”
