HOPE: how we and our world need it!

Daniel Horan, a contemporary theologian, recently wrote: “The hope God gives us is not naïve or an irrational belief in a magical reset of world history or freedom from the real perils of our time, but a call to stand in the face of pain, suffering, loss, violence, and injustice, and recognize how God is at work amid these tragic realities.” He echoes the insight of Charles Peguy, who died during World War I: “Faith is she who has believed for centuries and centuries; charity is she who has given herself for centuries and centuries. But my little hope is she who rises every morning.”
