Guest House Daily Reflections

On July 30 we celebrate the feast day of a shining witness of Christ here in Southeast Michigan: Capuchin Fr. Solanus Casey, who died in 1957 and in 2017 was declared “Blessed” by Pope Francis. For nearly 25 years he labored untiringly for the sick and poor in Detroit. Stories abound of the miracles that happened when people sought his prayers. But those miracles are not what made him holy. His holiness came from living out his conviction that he and all his brothers/ sisters, no matter how sick or poor, were infinitely precious to the Lord and deserved to be treated that way.
