Good Friday
John 18:1-19:42
Coming from the Father He entered our sinful world, becoming one of us. His journey back to the Father could not be a peaceful, pain-free return: it would be a mortal struggle with the powers of darkness and would cost him dearly. But our focus today is not only on His sufferings, hideous as they were, but also on the boundless love with which He bore them. St. John of the Cross wrote: “I looked at your cross, O Christ, and read there the song of your love.”
