“Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not spoken of me; it is the Father who lives in me accomplishing his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else, believe because of the works I do. I solemnly assure you, the man who has faith in me will do the works I do, and greater far than these. Why? Because I go to the Father, and whatever you ask in my name I will do, so as to glorify the Father in the Son.” John 14:9-13
A few lessons can be extracted from this Gospel text for the fifth week after Easter. Jesus tells us that if we firmly believe in Him we will see His Father and our Father and, most amazing of all, we will be empowered to do works even greater than He has done. Can you believe this?
Well, all we have to do is look around the AA room and see for ourselves the great and tremendous work that The Lord has accomplished. We see transformed lives that now are stable and happy. We hear about talents been used for the good of families and others. We witness a power and presence we did not know before. This we now know has come from our Higher Power, God.
Now the question for this week: How am I witnessing to God’s presence and Spirit in my life? When others see me do they see a sober, happy, peaceful person? Have courage and confidence in the AA program as it is guided by The Lord’s Spirit.
