In the Gospel of Luke the parable of the unjust judge is a powerful metaphor for perseverance at prayer. One must be prayerfully present both in contemplation and in action. Any good deed can be a prayer that soars to heaven.

Prayer nourishes faith and, in turn, when faith deepens, prayer is made strong. It is often in the face of difficulty that we turn to God in faith and at prayer.

Dear Jesus, may I model my prayer on Yours – may it be ceaseless. Help me to refine my sense of mission at prayer.
