The account of Jesus walking on water is famous. Commenting on it, St. Augustine notes that when love grows cold, the sea becomes rougher and the boat fonders. Jesus warms the water, calms the sea, and disciples fear.

There is much in life that is tumultuous. Often we are afraid, and love is dissipated. Jesus comes to dispel fear and warm hearts.

Dear God, may I be close to Jesus today. May any fear on my part be caste out by the warmth of His presence.
