LAKE ORION, Michigan – More than 130 runners and walkers ignored the drizzle and participated in the inaugural running of Run Over Addiction, a 5K run/walk hosted by Guest House May 16, 2015. The scenic course which started and ended at Scripps Mansion, on the campus of Guest House in Lake Orion, Michigan, delighted participants.

“About 7:30 a.m. the rain really picked up and I was a little worried, “admitted Special Events and Donor Relations Manager, Lisa Drummond.   ”But it slowed to a light drizzle by race time. From the excitement at the starting line, to the joy of crossing the timing mats at finish, the runners and walkers expressed delight with the course. Keegan Payne, 14, from Lake Orion was the overall winner in the men’s division, and Vicky Winkler, 49, from Oxford, was the overall women’s winner. After the run, guests enjoyed the music, a bounce house, an obstacle course, and exhibitor booths. Plans are already underway for Run Over Addiction 2016.” All runners and walkers received a tee shirt and a medal for participating.

The 5K course is USATF certified and endorsed by Pure Michigan FITness and the Governor’s Council.

Funds raised by Run Over Addiction support the mission of Guest House which is to provide the information, education, treatment and care needed to assure that clergy, religious and seminarians suffering from alcoholism, addictions and other behavioral health conditions have the best opportunity for quality recovery and overall health and wellness. Guest House is recognized as a 501c 3 Non-profit organization by the IRS and governed by a volunteer board of Trustees.
