Retreat Theme Description
“The Yellow Brick Road of our Becoming: The Great Summons of Sobriety” is an imaginative retreat that takes seriously the legendary French Jesuit-scientist, priest and mystic Pierre Teilhard de Chardin conviction that “we are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.” During these days we will explore and celebrate working a program of recovery that restored us to sanity and more—like Dorothy, once a-twirl in a whirlwind of terror and confusion, we found the road and the ruby slippers to take us home to ourselves. We think and feel and laugh again. We will do these things these holy hours. We will dream of continued new beginnings. There is safety at our tables of hope where we step each day into a new future; finding enough for our journey on the yellow brick road of our becoming women of serenity in sobriety.
