As we turn the calendar to a new year and new beginnings, many of us think of making a resolve that will take effect for the entire year if not longer. Personally I’ve given up on this format simply because it doesn’t work for me. What does then work?
Waking to a new day this morning, I turn to my God and bask in His loving care for me. I look for a new surprise this day, one that is brand new. It may be as small as the voice of a bird chirping or as startling as the telephone call informing me of the departure of a friend to heaven.
In our AA way of life we talk a lot about living just for today. If we really try this it will relieve anxiety and fretfulness about tomorrow. Staying within the present moment is a sure design for healthy and productive living. We have only this day to enjoy. Let us get all we can out of it!
Prayer: Lord of surprises and Lord of my life, open me to the wonders of this new day. May I find You in all the events of this day. Amen.
