Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Mark 1:40-45

In the New Testament, religion is always interpreted in terms of life. It is not a part of life, or an addition to life, but the whole of life. Everything that has to do with life is sacred. Religion is involved in all of it.

As Paul wrote to the Corinthians: “Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, you should do everything for the glory of God.” Nothing is left out.

Harm comes to religion when it ceases to be an integral part of life. If our life is divorced from religion and religion from life, then we are on thin ice – to the point where I question how we can call ourselves followers of Jesus Christ.
