Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Matthew 1:1-23

On this Feast of the Birth of our Blessed Mother, we can draw a great lesson from this strange but faith-filled genealogy. To put it bluntly, it is a team effort whether we realize it or not – each generation building on the next. None of us lives to himself/herself or by himself/herself. We stand in the shadow of ancestors and family who have literally given us life. Perhaps even more important, we are the beneficiaries of friends and strangers who have equipped us for life – with knowledge and friendship. Every breath we take we owe to those who gave us life. Every skill we have we owe to those who taught us how.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.
